N.B. By this Act (1.)
The following Towns, Ports and Places are added, and made Ports,
&c. equal with the others by the aforesaid Acts appointed,
where Ships and Vessels may unlade,
&c. all Goods imported; and where all Tobaccoes,
&c. may be sold or transported out of this
Province, viz.
St. Mary's County,
At Pile's Fresh, on both Sides of the said Fresh, on the Land of
Mr. Joseph Pile, and Thomas Simpson.
Kent County,
At Swan Creek, on the Plantation and land of William Stanley,
to
be called Milford Town.
Calvert County,
At Harvey-Town, and the Land adjacent there.
Charles County,
At Lower Cedar Point, in Pickawaxen Hundred, on, or near,
the Land
late of Mr. James Tire, deceased.
At Dangey's Point, in Mattawoman, or St. Thomas's Creek.
Baltimore County,
In Sposuty Creek, on the Land formerly Mr. John Collet's,
now in
Possession of Mr. John Mold, and the Lands adjacent.
In Gunpowder River, upon the Point commonly called Westbury's
Point.
Talbot County,
At, or near the Court-House, upon the Land of James Downes,
and
the Lands adjacent, to be called York.
Somerset County,
At Snow-Hill, on the Land formerly belonging to Henry Bishop,
and
left to Anne Bishop his Widow.
On Arnold Erzye's Land, and the Land adjacent at Oyster-Neck,
at
the Mouth of Monokin.
And all People that have already built upon the Land,
called Snow-Hill,
shall enjoy the Lots as
fully, firmly, &c. as any other Builders upon Lots
in any other Towns, paying for the same as
others do.
Dorchester County,
In Little Choptank River, at Nichelas Mazey's Point, to be
called Isington.
On Hunger River, on the East Side of the said River, on Andrew
Justey's Neck, to be called Bristol.
Cæcil County,
In Elke River, at a place called Cæcil-Town, at the
Mouth of Bohemia
River.
(2.) The Commissioners nominated in the Act of 1683, or any five
of them, are Impowered not
only to purchase, survey and lay out the Lots, &c. but to do and perform
all other Things relative
to the new Towns herein mentioned. (3.) The said respective
Commissioners to meet on
the said respective Lands, some Time before the 25th March next,
and cause 100 Acres to be
laid out, &c. according to the Directions of the aforesaid Acts.
(4.) The taking-Up of Lots,
and complying with the Rules and Directions of the aforesaid Acts, and
building thereon accordingly
before the last Day of August 1688, shall invest the Takers-up with
a like Estate in
their respective Lots, in the same Manner as Lots are held under the said
Acts. (5.) A Method
is prescribed, for the Convenience of the Inhabitants, of transporting
their Tobaccoes, by Entry
with, and Certificate of, the Officer at the several Towns, till the last
Day of August 1688.
(6.) Persons bringing Tobacco, or other Goods, to such Towns (if
the Officer cannot number
the Hogsheads, &c. in the Sloop, without taking some Part out) shall
unlade so much as
will bring the rest to his View. (7.) The Officer's Fee for
Entry and Certificate to be 3 d. Sterling,
or 3 lb Tobacco per Hogshead or Cask, &c. (8.) After the
last Day of October 1688, all
Inhabitants only of this Province, shall convey all Tobaccoes, and other
Commodities of the
Growth, &c. of this Province, intended to be exported, to some Port
or Place authorized for
a Town, (except hereafter excepted) and put the same into the Houses or
Stores for that Purpose |
