26  CHARLES Lord BALTIMORE.
At a Session of ASSEMBLY begun and held at the
    City of Annapolis, the 7th Day of July, in the 26th
    Year of the Dominion of the Right Honourable

    CHARLES, absolute Lord and Proprietary of the
    Provinces of Maryland and Avalon, Lord Baron of
    Baltimore, &c.  Annoq; Domini 1740, and ended
    the 29th Day of the same Month:  The following

    Laws were Enacted.

CHAP. II.
Passed 26th
July 1740.
An Act for raising and issuing Money, for maintaining his Majesty's Forces, to be
    raised in this Province; and for transporting them to the Place of Rendezvous
    in the
West-Indies.  Lib. B.L.C.  fol. 197. 
    N.B.  By this Act, a Sum not exceeding £.5000 was Granted for the buying, finding, and
providing Victuals, Transports, and other Necessaries, for the 500 Men to be raised in this Province,

for his Majesty's Service, for the Expedition against the Territories of the Catholic King
in the West-Indies:  For the Inlisting of which, Provision had been made by an Act passed the
preceding Session, viz. 1740, ch. 1.  The Hon
ble Benjamin Tasker, Esq; Col. King, and Doctor
Carroll, were appointed Agents for carrying this Act into Execution, and impowered to receive
the said Sum out of the Loan Office, &c.  and for the Replacing and Repayment of the same
into the Office, one Moiety of all the Duties on Rum, Spirits, Wine and Brandy, Irish Servants
and Negroes imported, (which were by any former Acts applied for defraying the Public
Charge) was appropriated, together with a Duty upon Ordinary Licences, until the said Sum
of £. 5000, &c. should be fully paid and replaced, &c.

 
CHAP. III.
Ditto. An Act for the indemnity of such Persons as shall be employed in transporting
    his Majesty's Troops, to be raised in this Province, to the general Rendezvous in
    the
West-Indies.  Lib. B.L.C.  fol. 204.
   
Viz.  From the Penalties in the Act of 1715, ch. 19, on transporting Persons out of this Province
        without Passes.

 
CHAP. IV.
Passed 29th
July 1740.
An Act for the speedy and effectual Publication of the Laws of this Province;
    and for the Encouragement of
Jonas Green, of the City of Annapolis, Printer.

To continue in Force till the last Day of December 1742.

 
CHAP. V.
Ditto. An Act reviving an Act of Assembly of this Province, entitled, An Act to prevent
    cutting up Tobacco Plants, destroying Tobacco, and Tobacco Houses; and
    for ascertaining the Punishment of Criminals guilt of the said Offences.  Lib.

CHAP. VI.
Ditto. An Act continuing an Act of Assembly of this Province, entitled, c  An Act for
    the more effectual Punishment of certain Offenders, and for taking from them

Ditto. An act continuing an Act of Assembly of this Province, entitled, A Supplementary 
    Act to the Act, entitled, An Act for the more effectual Punishment of
    Negroes and other Slaves, and for taking away the Benefit of Clergy from certain
    Offenders; and to an Act, entitled, An Act to prevent the tumultuous
    Meeting and other Irregularities of Negroes and other Slaves, and directing the
    Manner of trying Slaves.  Lib.
