So the amendment submitted by Mr. Gill, was rejected.
Mr. Peters submitted the follow amendment:
Sec. 1. line 4, after the word "schools," insert the words
"suited in its parts to the circumstances and wishes of the
people of different localities ;"
Which was rejected.
Mr. Nicolai submitted the following amendment:
Strike out all after the word "until," in line 2, and insert
" the General Assembly shall provide another, or re-enact
the existing system in whole or in part, but no law provid-
ing another system of Public Schools shall take effect before
the 30th day of June 1868 ;"
Which was rejected.
