Warrant, and he supposed that the keeping the road the width it had been kept for many
years, was all that was required of him, that he is poor and has a large family to maintain:
He therefore prays a remission of the said fine, And five of the Justices of the said County
having certified that from the best of their information the facts stated in the Petition are
true and that the said Isaac Landen ought not to have been fined, though the Law obliged
them to give [p. 119] judgment against him: The Board taking all the Circum-
stances into Consideration, do order and direct that the said fine of five hundred pounds of
Tobacco be remitted.

Ordered that the western Shore Treasurer pay to Mary Burnett, widow of Thomas
Burnett, late a Sergeant of the 3d. Maryland Regiment Two pounds, a balance of five Months
pay to the 1st. January 1781 per Certificate of the Auditor.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.

Saturday 28th. November 1789

The Council met.

Present as on yesterday. [p. 120]

Commission issued to Josiah Johnson Esqr. appointed Sheriff of Kent County in the
room of Edward Worrell deceased.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Capt'n. David Lynn Twenty seven
pounds, due him per Account passed by the Auditor.

The Council adjourned 'till Monday Morning.
