Mr. Thomas Johnson junior was appointed Clerk of the Council, who qualified as such
before Allen Quynn Esquire one of the Justices of the Peace for Ann Arundel County, and
Certificate thereof produced and filed.
Mr. Jub Fowler was appointed Messenger to the Council.
[p. 116] Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Mrs. Mary Cox widow of the
late Major James Cox ninety six pounds, eleven shillings and three pence for ten Months and
nine days half pay due the 1st. instant allowed her by an Act of Assembly passed November
Session 1788.
That the said Treasurer pay to Solomon Wright Esquire Fifty pounds for one quarter's
salary as a Judge of the Court of Appeals due the 1st. instant.
That the said Treasurer pay to Benjamin Mackall Esquire Fifty pounds for one quarter's
Salary as a Judge of the Court of appeals due the 1st. instant.
The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.

James Dondou formerly a Subject of the King of Great Britain, appeared before the
Board and Voluntarily made, repeated, and Subscribed a Declaration of his belief in the
Christian Religion, and also took, repeated and subscribed the Oath prescribed by the "Act
for Naturalization", wherefore he is now become a Subject of this State.
His Excellency John E. Howard Esquire attended.
James Brice Esquire attended and qualified before Nicholas Worthington Esquire a
Justice of the Peace for Ann Arundel County, by taking the several Oaths required by the
Constitution and Form of Government, and Laws of this State, and by making, repeating,
and subscribing a Declaration of his belief in the Christian Religion, and also taking the
Oath to support the Constitution of the United States, and Certificate thereof produced and
filed. [p. 117]
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Thomas Butt adm'r. of Edward Butt,
late a soldier of the 2d. Maryland Regiment Twelve pounds, ten shillings the five Months
pay due him from the 1st. of August 1780 to the 1st. January 1781, and also the further
sum of one pound, six shillings and eight pence as Adm'r. of Zachariah Butt late a soldier
in the said Regiment, a balance of the said five months pay, due him as aforesaid per
Certificates of the Auditor.
That the said Treasurer pay to John Thackeral Administrator of Rezin Thackaral, one
pound six shillings and eight pence a balance of five Months pay to the 1st. January 1781.
That the said Treasurer pay to Thomas Jones Esqr. Fifty pounds for one quarter's
Salary as a Judge of the Court of Appeals due him the 1st. Instant,
