44 "Journal of the Council"

Ordered that the western Shore Treasurer pay to the Reverend Mr. Ralph Higinbothom
Eighty three pounds, eighteen Shillings and five pence due him per Account passed by the
Deputy Auditor.

That the Said Treasurer pay to John Davidson Esqr. Thirty seven pounds, ten shillings
for one quarter's Salary as a Member of the Council.

Commissions issued to John Stull, Joseph Chapline, John Barnes, Andrew Bruce, John
Celler, Thomas Sprigg, Alexander Clagett, John Reid, Daniel Cresap, Henry Shryock, Thomas
Beall of Sam'l., Osborn Sprigg Jun'r., Ignatius Taylor, and John Simkins appointed Justices of
the Peace for Washington County and

John Stull, Joseph Chapline, Thomas Sprigg, Alexander Clagett and Ignatius Taylor
appointe Justices of the Orphans Court of Washington County.

The Council adjourned till tomorrow morning.

Friday 14th. August 1789

The Council met.

Present as on Yesterday.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Bennet Ballew fifteen pounds Current
Money to enable him to defray the Expences [p. 95] of travelling to New York with
two Indian Representatives of the District of Oconastata, for which he has engaged by a Note
from under his hand to pay to or Account with the proper Officer at New York.

That the said Treasurer pay to Jub Fowler Eighteen pounds fifteen shillings for one
Quarters Salary as Messenger to the Council, and Keeper of the Stadt House due the 1st.
instant.

The Council adjourned till tomorrow morning.

Wednesday 26th. August 1789

The Council met.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Solomon Wright Esqr. Fifty pounds for
one quarters Salary as a Judge of the Court of Appeals due the 1st. instant.

That the said Treasurer pay to Benjamin Rumsey Esqr. Fifty pounds for one quarter's
Salary as a Judge of the said Court due the 1st. instant,

That the said Treasurer pay to Benjamin Mackall Esqr. Fifty pounds for one quarter's
Salary as a Judge of the said Court due the 1st. instant.

That the said Treasurer pay to Mrs. Mary Hilleary, Widow of Lieut. Rignal Hilleary
Sixty pounds for one year's half pay due the first of May last,

That the said Treasurer pay to Captain Robert Denny Eleven pounds five shillings due him
per Account passed by the Auditor, and also the further Sum of Twenty pounds, sixteen
shillings and eight pence for two Month's Salary as Deputy Auditor due the 1st. instant.

That the said Treasurer pay to Bindett Hamilton One hundred and forty pounds Specie
