[p. 93] Wednesday 12th. August 1789

The Council met.

Present His Excellency John Eager Howard Esquire

The Honorable James Brice

John Davidson

Josias Carvel Hall Esquires

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to James Brice Esquire Thirty seven
pounds, ten shillings for one quarters Salary as a Member of the Council.

That the said Treasurer pay to Thomas Jones Esqr. Fifty pounds for one quarters Salary
as a Judge of the Court of Appeals due the 1st. Instant.

That the said Treasurer pay to Colo. John Hoskins Stone Forty two pounds, three Shil-
lings and nine pence for three Months half pay due him the 1st. Instant.

That the said Treasurer pay to John Rogers Esquire One hundred and eighty seven
pounds, ten shillings for one Quarters Salary as Chancellor and Judge of the Land Office due
him the 1st. Instant.

That the Said Treasurer pay to Mrs. Ann Levascher Widow of the late Lieut. John
Levascher Fifteen pounds for three Months half pay due the 1st. Instant.

In Council August 12th. 1789

Sufficient Evidence having been produced to this Board, that James Labes of Baltimore
Town, lost in the Storm of the 24th. of July 1788 One thousand four hundred and twenty one
bushels of Salt, nine hundred and thirteen and an half bushels thereof imported by Christopher
and Robert Johnson, in the Brig William, George Borrowdaile, and the residue, five hundred
and seven and an half bushels by John Spear in the Ship Jupiter John Henry Stemmitz, and the
duties thereon having been secured to be paid to the Naval Officer of the fourth District,
Ordered that the said Naval Officer be and he is hereby required to discount with or refund to
the said James Labes the duties on the said Salt.

[p. 94] In Council August 12th. 1789

Sufficient Evidence having been given the Board that Thomas Anderson and Company of
Chester town Kent County lost on the 24th. of July 1788 the quantity of two thousand bushels
of Salt, on which the Duties had been Secured to be paid to the Naval Officer of the eighth
District, Ordered that the Said Naval Officer be required to discount with or refund to the said
Thomas Anderson and Company the Duties on the said Salt.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.

Thursday 13th. August 1789

The Council met.
