In Council October 10, 1793
Isaac Wood of Calvert County by his Petition sets forth that he in February 1791 obtained
from Thomas Harwood jun'r Esq'r. a permit to retail spiritous liquors until the ensuing
term, that he has been fined by Calvert County Court the sum of six pounds Current Money
for retailing [p. 276] spiritous liquors during the said term. And whereas it appears
to this Board that the Petitioner had a permit as above mentioned, and that he thought at
the time he retailed under the permit, that he was acting agreeably to law and two of the
Justices of the said County having recommended relief, it is ordered that five pounds of the
said fine be remitted upon his paying the Costs.
