In Council October 23, 1793
The Petition of Bayley Earles Clark of Prince Georges County, was laid before the
Board stating that he was fined on two presentments at June and September terms last, for
selling liquors without licence, that at September term when his licence ought to have been
renewed he was absent from home on business, but left orders and Money with his Brother,
who had charge of his Store, to have his licence renewed, which his Brother neglected to do,
that he intended to pay for the time he had sold liquors without licence, which he is still
ready to pay, and that he had till then regularly complied with the direction of the Law, and
prays a remission of the fines, after deducting so much as will pay for the time he sold liquors
without licence; the two Associate Justices of the said County having stated that they
believe the facts in the Petition to be true, and have recommended a remission of the fines
