facts stated in the said Petition are true, the Board do hereby order and direct that the said
forfeiture [p. 239] of ten pounds be remitted on payment of all the Costs arising
thereon.

Commission issued to Benjamin Brookes and John Wilks Pratt appointed Coroners of
Prince Georges County.

Jean Baux formerly a french subject appeared before the Board, and voluntarily made,
repeated, and subscribed a Declaration of his belief in the Christian relegion [sic] ; and also
repeated and subscribed the Oath prescribed by the "Act for naturalization," wherefore he is
now become a subject of this State.

In Council June 1st. 1793

By a letter from the Chief and Associate Justices of Queen Anns County, it is represented
that [p. 240] Samuel Wood late of the same County, was fined six pounds for
retailing spiritous liquors without licence and entered into a recognizance with a certain
Nathaniel Bailey his security, for the payment of the same, and the Officers fees arising on the
prosecution, That the said Wood died since, leaving a distressed widow and a large family
of Children who would suffer greatly if the said fine was levied out of the small property he
left. They therefore recommend a remission of the fine; and the Board in consideration of the
distress of the said Wood's family do direct that the above mentioned fine of six pounds be
remitted.

The Council met.

Present as on Saturday.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Colo. John H Stone Forty two pounds,
three shillings and nine pence for three months half pay due the 1st May last,

That the said Treasurer pay to William Gilmour Forty pounds on Account,
[p. 241] According to order, the Board preceeded to the Consideration of the Charges
exhibited by Charles Daffin against George Martin Surveyor of Caroline County and after
