The Council met.

In Council June 3d. 1789

It appears by a transcript from William Gibson Clerk of Baltimore County Court, that
at January term last Simeon Leet was fined fifteen pounds Current Money for assaulting
and beating a certain David Burton; That the said Simeon Leet by his Petition sets forth
that he is aged sixty three years, has a helpless family, is incapable of paying the said fine;
and is now in Confinement for the same; And Whereas it appears from sundry papers accom-
panying the Petition that the facts set forth by the Petitioner are true, and having received
information that he has been in close Confinement for near five Months, The Board in
consideration of his poverty and his sufferings by Confinement in Goal, do direct that the
said fine of fifteen pounds be remitted.

In Council June 4th. 1789

Henry Hunt Esqr. Collector of taxes in Calvert County having complied with the
Condition required to entitle him to an extension of the indulgence granted him on the 4th.
of March last: Ordered that no execution issue against the said Henry Hunt or his Securities
for the balance due from him to the State for taxes as aforesaid until the fourth Day of
September next.
