The Council met.
Present as on Yesterday.
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Peter Engels Sixty two pounds, ten
shillings for six Months Salary as Armourer at Frederick Town in part of an Account passed
by the Auditor General this day.
That the said Treasurer pay to Peter Engels Two hundred and ninety eight pounds,
Seven shillings and eight pence due him for the balance of an Account passed by the Auditor
General
That the said Treasurer pay to Jacob Boyer Junr. Thirty eight pounds, nine shillings
and two pence due him per Account passed by the Auditor General.
That the said Treasurer pay to Josias Carter Three pounds, ten shillings for the like Sum
paid by him into the Treasury for Caution on a Warrant taken out of the Land Office to
affect Land lying within the reserves of the late Lord Proprietary.

It appears by a transcript from the records of Prince Georges County Court that in
September term last, Jasper Wirt, Frederick Counts, Peter Phelix Masure, Thomas Hewit,
and William Jackson of the said County were fined six pounds each for retailing Rum without
Licence. And the said Jasper Wirt, Frederick Counts, Peter Phelix Masure, Thomas Hewit,
and William Jackson by their Petition to the Board praying a Remission thereof, set fourth
that through ignorance of the alteration in the time for holding the Courts, they committed
the said Offence, And five of the Justices of the said County having recommended them as
proper Objects for the interposition of Government, Ordered that of the said fines, three
pounds be remitted to each of the Petitioners respectively.

In Council May 26th. 1789
By the Petition of Thomas Fletcher Dixon of Prince [p. 75] Georges County, it
appears that for resisting a Constable in the execution of his duty and for unseemly behaviour
before the Court of said County, he was fined five pounds and committed to jail for the non
payment of the same where he has lain a considerable time not being able to pay the fine, and
the Board being well informed that he is utterly unable to pay the fine imposed on him, do in
