26 "Journal of the Council"

Friday 15th. May 1789

The Council met.

Present the Hon'ble. James Brice

John Davidson

John Kilty Esquires

Ordered that the western Shore Treasurer pay to David Geddes One pound, eleven
shillings due him per Account passed by the Dep'y. Aud'r.
His Excellency John Eager Howard Esqr. attended.

In Council May 15th. 1789

Sufficient Evidence having been produced to this Board, that William Patterson and
Brothers of Baltimore town, lost in the Storm of 24th. July 1788, the quantity of seven
thousand four hundred and thirty three and one quarter bushels of Salt, on which the duties
had been secured to be paid to the Naval Officer of the fourth District at the Port of Baltimore.
Ordered that the Said Naval Officer be and he is hereby required to discount with or refund
to the said William Patterson and Brothers, the Duties on the said seven thousand four
hundred and thirty three and one quarter bushels of Salt.

By order

T. Johnson, Jr., Sec'y.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Leonard Ettlemen Ten pounds, sixteen
shillings and eight pence specie agreeably to the "Act to adjust the Debts due from this State"
per Account passed by the Deputy Auditor due the 1st. September 1787.

In Council May 15. 1789

Sufficient Evidence having been produced to this Board, that Robert Gilmer & Company
of Baltimore town, lost in the [p. 70 sic] Storm of the 24th. July 1788, one thousand
and eighty six bushels of Salt, on which the Duties had been secured to be paid to the Naval
Officer of the fourth District at the Port of Baltimore. Ordered that the Said Naval Officer
be and he is hereby required to discount with or refund to the said Robert Gilmer & Co. the
duties on the said One thousand and eighty six bushels of Salt.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.
