Martin of Talbot County who served in the Hospital Department and to deliver the same
to the Treasurer of the western shore to be by him paid over to the said Doct. Ennalls Martin.
The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.

Friday 30TH. December 1791

[p. 22] The Auditor General is requested to issue a Certificate of Depreciation to John
Pickering junior late a private in the Second Maryland Regiment and to deliver the same to
the Treasurer of the western shore to be by him paid—over to Moses Lecompte Esquire to
be by him delivered over to John Pickering sen'r of Dorchester County Adm'r of the said
John Pickering junior.

Commission issued to Thomas Jones, Solomon Birkhead and George Ward of Dorchester
County Justices of the Orphans Court.

The Council proceeded to elect by ballot a member of the Council in the Room of
Randolph Brandt Latimer Esq'r. who has refused to qualify and after counting and striking
the ballots it appeared that Colo. Uriah Forrest had two votes and Thomas Jenings Esq.
two votes, the Council being equally divided and no person elected they proceeded to a second
Ballot and on striking and counting the ballots the voters appeared as on the first ballot, the
Council being again equally divided and no person elected they postponed the election for
further consideration.

The Council adjourned till tomorrow morning.

Saturday 31 December 1791

The Council met.

Present as on Yesterday.

[p. 23] Samuel Chase Esq'r. is appointed Chief Justice of the Court of Oyer and Ter-
miner and Goal delivery for Baltimore County and

James Calhoun, Otho Holland Williams, George Salmon and Doct'r Lyde Goodwin
Associate Justices of the said Court.
