[p. 331] Tuesday 30TH. August 1791

The Council met.

Pres't. his Excellency John Eager Howard Esquire

The Hon'ble. Henry Ridgely

Randolph B. Latimer

John Davidson

William Hindman

John Kilty Esquires

William Dawson is appointed one of the Justices of the Orphans Court of Talbot County
in the room of Jeremiah Banning who refuses

and, Commission issued to John Bracco, David Kerr and William Dawson Justices of the
said Court.

Commissions issued to John Bruce appointed one of the Inspectors of Cedar point ware-
house in Charles County,

Francis Wheatley of John, one of the Inspectors of Benedict Warehouse in said County.

Cornelius Wildman appointed Inspector of Coles Warehouse in Saint Marys County.

The Board proceeded to the appointment of a person to fill the vacancy in the General
Court bench occasioned by the resignation of Mr. Johnson the late Chief Justice when the
votes were as follow

For Samuel Chase Esquire—the Hon'ble Henry Ridgely

Randolph B. Latimer

John Davidson

William Hindman Esquires

For Robert Smith Esqr.—the Hon'ble John Kilty Esquire

It was then moved for, and Resolved, that Mr. Chase be first named in the Commission
for the General Court, on which the votes stood as follow—

Affirmative

The Hon'ble. Henry Ridgely

R. B. Latimer and

John Davidson Esquires

Negative

The Hon'ble. William Hindman and

John Kilty Esqrs.

His Excellency the Governor Dissents to the above Resolution.
The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.
