Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to John Shaw Forty five pounds to be
by him expended in purchasing Wood for the public, and accounted for.

In Council August 31st. 1791

Joseph Nelson of Charles County by his Petition sets forth that at November term 1780
he was fined by the Court of said County the sum of thirty pounds New or State money for a
breach of the Peace, that he shortly after petitioned the Governor and Council for a Remission
of the said fine and was informed that he was discharged from payment thereof, that he hath
been lately called on by one of the former Collectors (Benjamin Cawood Esqr.) for payment
of the aforesaid sum of Thirty pounds, that the fine at the time was considered very high
and that the payment of it at this time would distress him very much, and his Petition
being recommended by several Gentlemen who were then Magistrates of said County, The
Board do order and direct that twenty two pounds, ten shillings of the aforesaid fine be
remitted.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.
