[p. 284] Friday 2Sth. March 1791

The Council met.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.

Saturday 26th. March 1791.

The Council met.

Present as on yesterday.

The Board have agreed to advance to Mr. John Gwinn Clerk of the General Court, fifty
pounds Current Money to procure Books for the purpose of transcribing such of the records
and Dockets of the General Court as are defaced, and to complete the said records from the
year 1765 to the time of the appointment of Mr. Hodgkin, and to make necessary alphabets
where there are none, and also a general Alphabet, and to enable the said John Gwinn to have
all the said Records well bound with good strong linen, to have necessary Cases made, and have
such Books bound as require it, agreeably to a Resolution of the General Assembly passed at
November Session last.

The Council adjourned 'till Monday morning.

Monday 28th. March 179:

The Council met.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Mrs. Ann Levascher widow of Lt. John
Levascher fifteen pounds for three Months half pay due her the 1st. Feb'y. last. [p. 285]

William Campbell Esqr. Agent appointed to Superintend the Collection of all balances due
to the State upon open Account, represents that it will be necessary to enable him to settle the
Accounts on the Auditors Books that he should be furnished with a copy of each Debtors
account as they stand stated on the Books of the Auditor, in order to ascertain the particular
periods when the advances were made to such Debtors as the greater part of the unsettled
accounts originated at a time when the Continental and State Money were in circulation and
in a depressed state. The Board having considered such representation are of opinion that he
ought to be furnished with Copies of said Accounts and have appointed Mr. Elie Vallette Clerk
for that purpose, and that he be allowed after the rate of Seventeen pounds, ten shillings per
Calender Month while engaged in said business.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.
