"14 Nov. 1788—12 Nov. 1791" 135

In Council September 4. 1790

Jonas Osburn and George Alderson of Baltimore County by their Petition to the Board
set forth that they were severally Recognized in the Sum of ten pounds each, Osburn for the
appearance of Sarah Quay at the last Baltimore County Court of Oyer and Terminer and Goal
delivery, to testify on behalf of the State against a certain Jane Scott for assaulting [p. 216]
Sarah Shadrick, and Alderson for the appearance of Frances Savage at the same Court to testify
as aforesaid; the said Petitioners represent that the said Sarah Quay and Frances Savage
attended as Witnesses agreeably to the tenor of their Recognizances, but being ignorant that
they ought to have applied to the Attorney General to be sent to the Grand Jury they neglected
so to do, and not being present when their names were called, their recognizances became for-
feited whereupon Execution hath issued against the Petitioners [;] they therefore pray that the
said forfeitures may be remitted, and three of the Justices of the said Court having recommended
them to Government for relief, The Board in consideration of all the circumstances do order
and direct that the said forfeitures of ten pounds each be remitted on their paying the Costs
accruing thereon.
