12 "Journal of the Council"

used his best endeavors to discharge the balance he owes the State—Resolved that no
Execution issue against the said William Robertson or his Securities for the balance due
from him to the State for the taxes in Montgomery County aforesaid in the year 1786 for
[p. 52] three Months from the seventh of this instant.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Randolph Brandt Latimer Thirty five
shillings and seven pence due him per Account passed by the Auditor General.
The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.

Thursday 26th. March 1789

The Council met.

Present as on Yesterday.

Ordered that the Sales of the property of John Stevens Esqr. Collector of the taxes in
Dorchester County for the year one thousand seven hundred and eighty five, and his
Securities, be further Suspended until the first Day of June next.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.

In Council March 28th. 1789

Daniel Powell Cox Esquire Collector of taxes for Talbot County having prayed the
indulgence which by an Act of Assembly passed [p. 53] at their last Session entitled
"An Act to empower the Governor and Council to compound with the discoverers of british
property and for other purposes" this Board is authorized to grant on certain Conditions,
which Condition the said Daniel Powell Cox has complied with and the Board being of
opinion that he has used his best endeavors to discharge the balance he owes the State.
Resolved that no Execution issue against the said Daniel Powell Cox or his Securities for
the recovery of the balance due from him to the State for the taxes in Talbot County aforesaid
for the year 1786 for three Months from the twelfth of this instant.
