100 "Journal of the Council"

In Council May 1. 1790

It being suggested to the Board by William Campbell Esqr., Agent for the Collection of
taxes &ca., that doubts are entertained respecting his Authority to dispose of the property
purchased during the last year for the use of the State in satisfaction of balances due from
Collectors and their Securities.

Resolved that on the refusal or neglect of any Collector or Security whose property has
been taken by the State as aforesaid to redeem the same by complying with the terms proposed
or to be proposed by the said William Campbell in his discretion agreeably to the fifth Section
of the Act of last Session entitled "An Act respecting the Collectors of the public taxes
since the first of January seventeen hundred and eighty three", he be and hereby is authorized
and directed to sell such property to the best advantage for the use of the State.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Jubb Fowler Eighteen pounds, fifteen
shillings for one quarter's salary as Messenger to the Council and keeper of the State house
due the 1st. instant, and also the further sum of Eight pounds, twelve shillings and six
pence due him per Account passed by the Auditor.
