Journal of the State Council, 1784-1789. 77

Robert Johnson did appear at the then next Term according to the
Tenor of his Recognizance which was respited from Term to Term
until March Term 1782 when the said Robert Johnson being called,
and not appearing, the same was forfeited and that Execution had
thereupon issued, and was still enforce against the said Robert John-
son. The Case of the said Robert Johnson was stated in writing by five
of the Justices of Frederick County Court who recommended a Re-
mission of the whole of the Recognizance forfeited as aforesaid. It
appearing to the Board from the foregoing State and Certificates of
the good Character of Robert Johnson that the forfeiture aforesaid
hath not been wilfully incurred by him but hath proceeded from his
Apprehension and Belief that his attendance was unnecessary after
the Term to which he was recognized to appear; they are of Opinion
that the same ought to be remitted and do order a Remission
accordingly.
