Council Room, and having produced Certificates of their Qualifica-
tion, took their Seats.
Thomas Johnson Junior appointed Clerk of the Council and a
Certificate of his Qualification produced.
Jub Fowler appointed Messenger.
The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning 11 o'clock.

In Council 15th. December 1785
Christopher Green of Kent County by his Petition to this Board,
states that at June Term 1785 he was committed a Prisoner to the
Jail of the same County on a Ca Sa upon a Recognizance forfeited
for his non appearance at a preceding Term to give Evidence for
the State against a certain Philip Chaply, who was presented by the
Grand Jury of the said County for an Assault and Battery committed
on the Body of the said Christopher Green, that he still remains a
Prisoner, unable by his Poverty to pay the Sum of Ten pounds men-
tioned in his Recognizance, That his non appearance [p 8o]
was not owing to his Obstinacy or Contempt of the Laws and
Authority of the State but purely to his Ignorance of the Obligation
he was under, and praying to be relieved from said forfeited Recog-
nizance, And three of the Justices of the said County recommending
that the Recognizance may be remitted, and from information given
this Board that he is a very poor man with a Family of Children,
They are of Opinion, and do hereby Order and direct a Remission
accordingly.

The Petition of Henry Boarman, and Henry Massey Hanson ot
Charles County, praying to be relieved from Fines imposed on them
by a Special Court of Oyer and Terminer, held in said County for the
Trial of Benjamin Fendall and Prior Berry, for not attending said
Court as Jurors, is rejected.
