Wednesday 2d. November 1785

The Council met.

Present as on yesterday.

On hearing the Petition of James Shaw of Dorchester County
complaining that the Election for Sheriffs of said County was not
made fair and legal agreeably to the Constitution and Laws of this
State, and on examining and hearing the Witnesses, produced by the
said Petitioner and the Allegations of both Parties, This Board do
adjudge the said Election valid and effectual notwithstanding any
Matter or Thing alledged and proved on the said hearing, and

Commission issued to Thomas Lockerman elected Sheriff of Dor-
chester County.

John Stevens, Henry Hooper 2d. John Scott James Bryan Jesse Rue
and Richard Pattison Junior of Dorchester County prove two Day
attendance, each, as Witnesses on the Petition of James Shaw, com-
plaining of the illegality of the Election for Sheriffs of said County
and allowed four Days Itenerant Expences by this Board.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning 11 o'clock.

Thursday 3d. November 1785

The Council met.

Present as on Yesterday.

Mr. Archibald Job and James Orrick who are returned Sheriff's
for Caecil County, attended this Board agreeably to the Order of the
Governor and Council of the 17 October last, And Mr. Orrick having
declined his Pretentions to the Sheriffalty and withdrawn his charges
against Mr. Job and no further charges having been made which
are within the Jurisdiction of this Board, We do therefore adjudge
the Election for Sheriffs of Caecil County aforesaid Constitutional
and valid, and [p 73]

Commission issued to Archibald Job elected Sheriff of Caecil
County.

Patrick Hamilton exhibits to this Board an Account against
Messrs. James McNab & John Baine for Sixty pounds which is
examined and approved.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning 11 o'clock.

Friday 4th. November 1785

The Council met.

Present the Honorable
Charles Wallace, Aquila Paca and John Davidson Esquires.

The Objection to William Palmer's Claim against Robert Christie
for One thousand sixty nine pounds and four pence that the said
Palmer is a British subject, being removed to the Satisfaction of this
Board the said Account is approved.
