322 Journal of the State Council, 1784-1789.

Friday 23d. January 1789

The Council met.
Present as on Yesterday.

The Justices of the Orphans Court of Harford County are re-
appointed.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.

Saturday 24th. January 1789

The Council met.

Present his Excellency John Eager Howard Esquire.
The Honorable John Davidson—Josias C. Hall
John Kilty Esquires.

The Council adjourned 'till Monday morning.

The Council met.

Present the Honorable James Brice

Josias Carvel Hall

John Kilty Esquires.

William Foxcroft formerly a Subject of the King of Great Britain
appeared before the Board and voluntarily made repeated and sub-
scribed a Declaration of his Belief in the Christian Religion, and
also took repeated and subscribed the Oath prescribed by the "Act
for Naturalization," wherefore he is now become a Subject of this
State.

His Excellency John Eager Howard Esqr. attended.

The Board took into consideration the form and manner of com-
municating to the Secretary of Congress the names of the six persons
elected Representatives of this State in the Congress of the United
States, when it was moved by John Kilty Esquire that either
the Certificates of the several returning Officers in the late Election
or copies of them attested by the Clerk of the Council be forwarded
to the Secretary of Congress, together with the Certificate of the
Board, declaring the names of the persons elected.

On the Question of the above Motion it was determined in the
negative.

Whereupon John Kilty Esquire gives notice that he intends to
enter his dissent to the said determination.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.

Tuesday 27th. January 1789
