In Council December 16th. 1788

Nathaniel West of Harford County by his Petition sets forth that
he obtained licence from the Court of the said County at their
August term 1786 to keep tavern for one year, at the expiration of
which, he intended to decline the business; but that in his absence,
and without his knowledge some of his family sold a certain James
Dunbar a Gill or Gills of Rum, for which he was presented and fined
six hundred weight of Tobacco, as an annexed transcript of the
Proceedings shews. The Petitioner is recommended to the Clemency
of the Board by three Justices of the aforesaid County who certify
their belief in the facts represented and good information having been
obtained that he is extremely poor the Board in Consideration of all
the Circumstances do order that the above fine be remitted.

[p 12] Ordered that the Western Shore Treasurer pay to
Christopher Richard ninety eight pounds, fourteen shillings and six

pence specie agreeably to the "Act to adjust the Debts due from this

State" per Account examined and passed by the Deputy Auditor due
the 1st. September 1787.
