[p 369] In Council November 10th. 1788

George Wehrly of Baltimore Town in Baltimore County sets
forth by his Petition to the Board that a certain Thomas Pearson
having been apprehended on suspicion of having stolen two pair of
buckles, he the Petitioner knowing the said Pearson to be a poor man
with a Wife and a numerous family of children, depending entirely
on his Labour for their Support, and that he had always been
esteemed an honest and industrious man, was induced from Motives
of humanity to become security for his appearance, That Pearson
thereafter absconded and the Petitioners recognizance became for-
feited, and execution was issued thereon and served for the sum of
twenty pounds Current Money. The Petitioner being recommended
to the Board as an Object of relief, by three of the Justices of the
Criminal Court for the said County, and a number of inhabitants
having certified him to be a man of good character, the Board do
order and direct that of the above twenty pounds, seventeen pounds
be and the same is hereby remitted.

Ordered that the Western Shore Treasurer pay to Frederick Green
ninety three pounds, fifteen shillings Current Money for One
quarter's Salary as Printer to the State of Maryland due the 1st.
instant.

So End the Proceedings.

[p 1] On Monday the 10th of November 1788 The General As-
sembly of Maryland pursuant to the directions of the Constitution
and form of Government of the said State, proceeded to the choice of
a Governor, when the Honorable Thomas Johnson Esquire was
elected, and

On Tuesday the nth of the same Month the General Assembly
elected the following Gentlemen to serve as Council to the Governor,
James Brice, John Davidson, William Hindman, Josias Carvel Hall

and John Kilty Esquires.

Wednesday 19th. November 1788

James Brice, and John Davidson Esquires appeared in the Council
room, and qualified before Alien Quynn Esquire, one of the Justices
