0 Journal of the State Council, 1784-1789.

Company to which he belonged was discharged, upon which the
said Ball returned Home And by a Certificate from his Neighbours
he is represented as a person truly deserving of a Mitigation of his
Fine, The Board taking the same into Consideration do order and
direct a Remission of the said [p 35] fine of Four pounds,
sixteen shilling and two pence.

Monday 25th. April 1785

The Council met.

Present as on Saturday.

Two accounts brought by Joseph Harris and One by Barbara
Harris against the Estate of James Chalmers, amounting 17-17-8
principal, and Mr. Chalmers having produced his proved Account of a
similar date, by which it appears that Harris was indebted to
Chalmers 4-1-2 and also fully Balances the Account of Barbara
Harris, Mr. Chalmers also produced a Letter from Harris in which
he acknowledged himself indebted to Mr. Chalmers for not prosecut-
ing him on a forgery he was guilty of and that he was ready to settle
his Accounts with the said Chalmers, these Accounts therefore are
rejected.

The Council adjourned till tomorrow morning 11 o'clock.

Present as on Yesterday.
