several respectable inhabitants of Baltimore Town having certified
that the facts are truly stated and recommending the Petitioner to
the Clemency [p 348] of Government, the Board in Con-
sideration thereof do order and direct the said fine of six pounds to be

In Council 30th. August 1788
Whereas it appears by a transcript from the Clerk of Baltimore
County Criminal Court that Thomas White was fined six hundred
pounds of Tobacco at June term last by the Justices of said Court for
selling Liquors without Licence, and by the Petition of the said
Thomas White that he has a wife and three small Children, that he
owned a horse and Dray by which he supported his family, and which
he is now deprived of, and that he had his house blown down in the
late storm which has compleated his ruin. The Board in considera-
tion of the indigent Circumstances of the said Thomas White, and his
being recommended as an object of clemency by four of the Justices
of the said Court, do direct that the said fine of six hundred pounds of
Tobacco be remitted, which is hereby done.
