Saturday 6th. September 1788

The Honorable John Davidson and Benjamin Harrison Esquires
attended.

Monday 8th. September 1788

The Council met.

Present His Excellency William Smallwood Esquire.
The Hon'ble. Jeremiah T, Chase

Benjamin Harrison Esquires.

Ordered that the Western Shore Treasurer pay to Joseph Clark
Seventeen pounds, ten shillings on Account of the public buildings
and to be accounted for.

The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.

Tuesday 9th. September 1788

The Council met.

In Council 9th. September 1788

John Shadrick of Fells point Baltimore County having by his
Petition set forth that he was fined by the Justices of Baltimore
County Court (which [p 350] appears by a Certificate from
the Clerk of said Court was at August term last and that he was
fined six hundred pounds of Tobacco and thirty shillings Current
Money) for selling Liquor without licence for which he was com-
mitted, that he is now in confinement, that he has a wife and several
small Children who are suffering for want of his assistance. Several
of the Inhabitants of Baltimore Town having recommended the
Petitioner as also three of the Justices of the said Court as a proper
Object of Clemency, The Board do direct that six hundred pounds
of Tobacco, one of the said fines be and is hereby remitted.

Ordered That the Western Shore Treasurer pay to John White
Commissioner, one hundred and one pounds, five shillings for one
quarter's Salary due him the 1st. August last.
