nine pounds, which she is unable to pay, that she is a Widow whose
late Husband died in the service of America during the late War,
and left her with a family to support. It appears from transcripts from
the Clerk of the County that she was fined last June term six hundred
pounds of Tobacco and thirty shillings currency, and from the recom-
mendation of four of the Justices of the said Court, that the Peti-
tioner is unable to pay the said fines and Costs, and a number of the
Inhabitants of the said County having signed the Petition, the Board
in consideration of the low Circumstances of the Petitioner do direct
a Remission of six hundred pounds of Tobacco, one of the said fines,
which is hereby done.

Ordered That the Western Shore Treasurer pay to Thomas
Townsend Two pounds, twelve shillings and six pence due him per
Account passed by the Deputy Auditor.

That the said Treasurer pay to Joseph Clark fifteen pounds on
account of the public buildings and to be accounted for.

That the said Treasurer pay to Charles Lansdale Twenty five
pounds for two years Carriage of public Letters per Account passed
by the Deputy Auditor.

That the said Treasurer pay to Michael Miller six pounds, eleven
shillings and ten pence and to John Miller five pounds seven shillings
and seven pence specie agreeably to the "Act to adjust the Debts
due from this State" due the 1st. September 1787 per Accounts
adjusted by the Deputy Auditor.

The Council adjourned 'till Monday next.

Saturday 30th. August 1788

The Council met.
