The Council adjourned 'till tomorrow morning.

In Council July 22d. 1788

John McHenry and James McCulloh of Baltimore Town by their
Petition set forth that some time in the year 1786 a certain Thomas
Walsh and Ann his wife were apprehended on suspicion of concealing
a sum of Money stolen from William Kean of Talbot County by a
certain Jane Hendricks who was tried and convicted at June term
last, that they the Petitioners from motives of Humanity were in-
duced to recognize in the sum of One hundred pounds for the ap-
pearance of the said Thomas and Ann at January term 1787 to pre-
vent their confinement in a loathsome Goal, that several Courts
having elapsed and no evidence appearing to convict those persons,
they removed to Great Britain from whence there is no prospect of
their ever returning to violate the Peace and good order of this State.
And the Bench of Criminal Justices having by their Certificate
annexed to the said Petition testified their belief in the above state of
facts and that the removal of the said Thomas and Ann out of this
State has not been attended with an evasion of Justice or harm to the
Cummunity, and having recommended the Remittance of the afore-
said forfeited recognizance, the Board do direct that the said forfeited
Recognizance be and it is hereby remitted.
