Ordered that the Western Shore Treasurer pay to Peter Keener
One hundred and ten pounds, eleven shillings Specie agreeably to
the "Act to adjust the Debts due from this State" per Account passed
by the Aud'r. General due the 1st. September 1787.

In Council 18th. July 1788

John Woodmancy of Baltimore Town in Baltimore County, by
his Petition sets forth that he was fined at the last Criminal Court
for the County aforesaid in the Sum of twenty pounds Current
Money, for keeping a disorderly house, that being unable to pay the
same he is now Confined in Goal, and that his Wife and four Children
are now suffering greatly for want of his assistance, and it being
certified by the Justices of the aforesaid Court that the Petitioner is
in very poor Circumstances, The Board in Consideration of his
Poverty and the distress of his family do direct [p 336] that
of the above fine of twenty pounds, the Sum of fifteen pounds be, and
the same is hereby remitted.

In Council July iSth. 1788

Benjamin Sellman of Baltimore Town by his Petition sets forth
that he, for the maintenance of his family of a wife and small children,
was induced to sell Liquors by small measure, for which offence he
was fined by Baltimore County Criminal Court, that his ignorance
prompted him to believe that he had it in his power to obtain a licence
at a subsequent Court which would purge the Offence. By the Cer-
tificate of the Clerk of said Court annexed to the Petition it appears
that the Petitioner was fined at June term last in the quantity of
6oo lbs. of Tobacco. Sundry of the Inhabitants of Baltimore Town
having certified that they are fully satisfied that the facts as stated
by the Petitioner are true, and four of the Justices of the Criminal
Court aforesaid having recommended the Petitioner as a proper
Object of Compassion the Board direct that the said fine of 600 lbs.
of Tobacco be and it is hereby remitted.
