for which no Collector has been appointed and given Bond as re-
quired by Law, in the room of Mr. Zachariah Duvall who was ap-
pointed by An Act of Assembly passed last April Session entitled
"An Act for the Collection of the Tax due in Anne Arundel County
for the Year Seventeen hundred and eighty six."

Monday 30th. June 1788

The Council met.

John Davidson—Benja. Harrison

Esquires.

[p 330] In Council June 30TH. 1788

Samuel Miles of Baltimore County having by his Petition set forth
that Licence was granted to a certain John Primrose to keep an
Ordinary, that before the expiration of the year for which it was
granted, the said Primrose moved from the House, and rented it to
him the Petitioner who thought himself entitled to the benefit of the
Licence for the residue of the year, and accordingly sold Liquors,
for which he was fined at Baltimore County Criminal Court held
January last, six hundred pounds of Tobacco, that he is very poor
and offended through ignorance. And three of the Justices of the
said County having certified that it appears to them that the above
State of facts are true, and having recommended the Petitioner as a
proper subject for the clemency of the Board, it is directed that the
said fine be remitted which is accordingly done.
