Ordered That the Western Shore Treasurer pay to Abraham
Griffith Five pounds, eight shillings and six pence for the like sum
paid by him for Caution on 31 Acres of Land within the reserves as
per Special Warrant will appear, agreeably to the Act entitled "An
Act allowing a longer time to compound on old Certificates and
making further regulations respecting the Sale of Vacant Lands"
passed June Session 1782.
His Excellency the Governor attended.
Ordered That the Western Shore Treasurer pay to Mr. Samuel
Sterett the sum of two thousand and sixty five pounds, eighteen
shillings Current Money, out of the Money collected and to be col-
lected in Virtue of the Act to procure a permanent fund for the Debt
due from this State to Messieurs Van Staphorst, to be by him re-
mitted to said Messieurs Van Staphorst, for the purpose of paying the
Interest due for the present year on the Loan negotiated by the said
Messieurs Van Staphorst and to be by him accounted for agreeably
to his Bond of this Date.
The Council adjourned 'till Monday Morning.

Ordered that the following be published in Hand bills and that
fifty copies be struck off.
[p 325] Annapolis In Council June 9th. 1788
Mr. Zachariah Duvall having declined to undertake the Collection
of the Tax in certain Districts of Anne Arundel County for the year
1786 and of the Fund Tax for the year's 1786, 1787 and 1788, to
which he was appointed by an Act of the Assembly at their last
Session, Notice is hereby given, that the Board agreeably to the di-
rection of the aforesaid Act, do propose to appoint a Person in the
room of Mr. Duvall, and to prevent the Delay that might arise from
further refusals, they request that any person inclined to accept the
appointment will make speedy application for it.
