therefore recommend that the above fine as above imposed may be
remitted.

By order of the Court

April Term 16. 1788.

Whereupon, in full persuasion that the above mentioned Solomon
Clayton was not intentionally guilty of a breach of the Laws, it is
ordered that the above fine of Thirty pounds Current Money be and
it is hereby remitted.

[p 317] Ordered That the Western Shore Treasurer pay to
Jeremiah T. Chase Esquire Thirty one pounds, five shillings for one
quarter's Salary as a Member of the Council due the 1st. Instant,
That the said Treasurer pay to Colo. John H. Stone Forty two
pounds three shillings and nine pence for three Months half pay due
the 1st. Instant.

In Council May 2 1st. 1788

Elizabeth Gill of Prince George's County by her Petition sets forth
that she was fined the sum of six hund'd. pounds of Tobacco last
September in Prince George's County for retailing Spiritous Liquors
without Licence, and that she offended without any intention being
ignorant of the Laws of the State, it also appears that she is very
poor and unable to pay the fine aforesaid, and three of the Magistrates
having recommended her to the Clemency of this Board, they are of
