In Council May 14th. 1788

Christopher Green of Kent County by his Petition [p 313]
sets forth that he has committed an assault and Battery for which
he was fined five pounds Current Money and that on his non payment
he was at the last March term of the Court of the said County com-
mitted to the public jail where he still remains. The Petitioner alleges
that he was impelled by much provocation to commit the aforesaid
Offence. He sets forth that he is utterly unable to pay the fine and
that he has a Wife and two small Children, who are now Suffering
extremely for want of his assistance. The Board considering his in-
ability to pay the fine or any part thereof of which they are possessed
of good information, and adverting to the confinement he has under-
gone, which they hope may have a good effect on his future conduct,
