Eighth day of October next to satisfie unto The said Richard Ball
the sume of two thousand nine hundred & twenty pounds of tobacco
for his costs & charges by him laid out & expended about his suite
aforesaid And have you there this writt Wittnes our trusty & wel-
beloved Thomas Motley Esqr our Lievt Genll & chiefe Justice of our
said Province the Eighteenth day of June in the third yeare of our
Dominion &c Annoq Dni 1678. Att which said Eighth day of
October in the yeare aforesaid the same Sheriffe maketh returne of
the writt aforesaid in these words Vizt Memorandum this twenty
Eighth day of August 1678. Then quiet & lawful possession of all
that Messuage or Tenements of Brooke Court Mannor also all the
said Mannor of Brooke Court itt being two Thousand acres delivered
unto Widdow Elizabeth Letchworth Mother & Guardian of Joseph
Letch worth Sonn & hey re of Thomas Letchworth deceased & all
the appurtennces thereunto belonging before good & lawfull men of
my bailywick possession as before given As also the sume of two
thousand nine hundred & twenty pounds of tobacco satisfied & paid
by the wthin named Bernard Johnson according as this writt comands

Ordered by the Court, that a Writt of Enquiry of damages issue
to be directed to the Sheriffe of Calvert County to Sumons a jury
of the said County to appeare att the next Provinciall Court to
Enquire what damages Richard Ball Lessee of Elizabeth Letchworth
Widdow Mother & Guardian of Joseph Letchworth Sonn & heyre
of Thomas Letchworth deceased hath sustained by occasion of a cer-
taine action of trespas in Ejectmt by him brought against Bernard
Johnson
Upon mocon made unto this Court by Robert Carvile the Attor-
ney of Elizabeth Letchworth Mother & Guardian of Joseph Letch-
worth Sonn & heyre of Thomas Letchworth deceased, that by vertue
of his Lordpps writt of habere facias possessionem the Sheriffe of
Calvert County delivered unto her the said Elizabeth possession of
two thousand acres of land called Brooke Court Mannor als the
Quasco recovered against Bernard Johnson in this Court, since which
tyme the said Bernard Johnson hath by force made a reentry there-
into & keepes possession of part or all of the Messuage or dwelling
house on the said lands much to the damage of the said Elizabeth
Letchworth Whereupon itt is ordered by the Court here this day to
witt the fourteenth day of October in the third yeare of the Domin-
ion of Charles Lord Baltemore &c Annoq Doni 1678. that any two
of the Comissionrs of the said County who live neer unto the said
land by force compell & turn the said Bernard Johnson from off the
