And the said Mary Pope by Kenelm Cheseldyn her Attorney doth
come & defend the force & injury when &c and prayeth liberty to
imparle hereunto untill Next Provintiall Court & itt is granted unto
her, the same day is given to the plt also.
Now here att this day to witt the seventh day of June in the fourth
yeare of the Dominion of Charles Lord Baltemore &c Annoqj Doni
1679 cometh as well the said Philip as the said Mary by their At-
torneys aforesaid And the said Mary by her said Attorney saith,
that the said Philip his action aforesaid against her the said Mary
ought not to haue, for that she saith that she the said Mary detain-
eth not the Chatties as the said Philip in his declaration hath above
declared against her And of this she putts herselfe upon the Coun-
trey, & the plt likewise therefore itt is comanded the Sheriffe of
St Maryes County that he cause to come here twelve &c by whom &c

& who Neither &c to Recognize &c because as well &c which jurors
being att the barr are impannelled to witt John Evans, Stephen
Murty, Samuell Asbiston, Richard Sweatnam, Anthony Evans
Nicholas Hacket, Robert Smith, Henry Penington, James Harison
John Watson, Robert Toate & Elias Beech who being Elected tryed &
sworne to say the truth in the prmisses, the plaintiffe although
solemnly called appeared not, whereupon a Nonsuite is awarded
against him And itt is considered that the said Philip take nothing
by his writt, but be in mercy for his false clayme And that the said
Mary goe thereof without day And that the said Mary Pope recover
against the said Philip Lynes the sume of pounds
of tobacco for her costs & Charges by her about her defence in this
behalfe laid out & expended And the said Mary haue thereof

Nicholas ffurnesse & Charles Bathurst late of
Calvert County were Attached to answer unto
Morgan Jones of a plea wherefore by force &
armes an Assault upon him they did make &
him did beat wound & evill entreat & Imprison,

& him in prison against the Lawes & Customes of this Province did
detaine, & other harmes to him did doe, to the damage of him the
said Morgan, & against the peace of the right Honble the Lord
Propry &c

And whereupon the said Morgan Jones by Charles Boteler his
Attorney complaineth, that whereas the said Nicholas ffurnesse &
Charles Bathurst upon the first day of January in the yeare of our
Lord One thousand six hundred seventy & seven att the Clifts in
Calvert County in the Province of Maryland with force & armes
upon the said Morgan Jones an assult did make, & him did beat
wound & evill entreat & imprison, & him by the space of twenty foure
houres then next following without any reasonable cause & against
