Leveyed of their & every of their lands & tenements Goods & Chatties
to the use of the aforesaid Richard Royston upon this Condicon,
that if the said Richard Royston shall obtaine one or more judgemt
or judgemts in three severall actions of Debt depending in this Court
against the said Symon Irons That then the said Symon Irons shall
pay the condemnacon or deliver himselfe to the prison of the Sher-
iffe of the County of St Maryes, or they the said Nicholas Hacket,
Robert Bryan, Charles Hea & John Glover will doe itt for him.
Which security was accepted of by the plaintiffes Attorney And the
Defendt by Robert Ridgely his Attorney imparled hereunto untill
next Provintiall Court, the same day is given to the plaintiffe also

Bernard Johnson late of Calvert County Cooper
was Attached to Answer unto Edward Ball of the
same County planter, of a plea wherefore by force
& armes one Mannour Messuage & two thousand


acres of land lying on the South side of Petuxent River in Calvert
County aforesaid called Brooke Court Mannor otherwise the Aquasco
with the appurteniices which Elizabeth Letchworth Widdow Mother
& Guardian of Joseph Letchworth Sonn & heyre of Thomas Letch-
worth deceased in right of the said Joseph Demised to the said
Edward for a terme which is not yett passt did enter, & him from
the possession thereof did Eject & other harmes to him did to the
great damage of the said Edward & against his Lordpps peace &c
In such manner in this Court itt is proceeded in, that the said
Edward Ball Lessee as aforesaid ought to recover against the said
Bernard Johnson his damages sustained by occasion of the prmisses
But because itt is not known what damage the aforesaid Edward
hath sustained by occasion thereof Itt was therefore Comanded the
Sheriffe of St Maryes County that he cause to come here to witt the
twelfth day of March in the fourth yeare of the Dominion of Charles
Lord Baltemore &c Annoq Doni 1678. twelve good and law full men
of his County diligently to Enquire what damage the aforesaid
Edward hath sustained by occasion of the prmisses
Att which said twelfth day of March in the yeare aforesaid com-
eth as well the said plaintiffe by Robert Carvile his Attorney As the
said Defendt by Christopher Rousby his Attorney, And the jurors
impannelled being called like wise come to witt Gilbert Turberfield,
Leonard Green, Stephen Murty, Wm Thomas, Wm Watson, Tho:
Jones, John Glover, Robert Bryan, George Godfrey, Theophilus
Turford, Edward Turner & Philip Pocock who being Elected tryed
& sworne to say the truth in the prmisses upon their Oaths doe say

That the said Edward hath sustained damages by occasion of the
prmisses to two thousand five hundred pounds of tobacco Therefore
itt is considered that the said Edward Ball Lessee as aforesaid
recover against the said Bernard Johnson as well the Sume of two
