                 behind unpayd. And hee hauing not then Tob to pay mee, but
                 tould mee hereafter hee would pay mee. And I fearing least hee
                 should stay mee soe long, yt hee might claime ye benefitt of ye Act,
                 I caused Mr Gwyther to arrest him, for to hold up the debt. Where
                 uppon Mr Batten getts an Attatchmt & attatches 3000 l Tob in his
                 owne hands. A fine way to pay Debts. Soe yor petr humbly desyres,
                 yt you will bee pleased to consider yt this Tob shou!d haue bene payd
                 yt yeare, wch W Couell went home. Soe yt wee haue beene outed
                 of Our Tob this two yeares. And yt there is a man serut wch is in part
                 of this 3475 l Mr Batten two Crops, &, wee haue receaued
                 noe . . . for him as yett.

                 to a writt directed to mee dated ye 3d of May 1659. & Signed by ye
                 Leiutt of this Prouince, haue Warned Twelfe men as I am com
                 manded in ye sd writt. who being Conueaned att Nangemy uppon
                 ye Land of Capt Lewis Deceased. An ueiwing ye Land, & other
                 Commodities thereof, Doe apprayse ys same att One hundd iforty &
                 ffiue pownds of Tob yearely. sd Land att that rate extended,
                 will in Ninety nine yeares make up ye summe of fourteene Thow
                 sand three hundd fifty & flue pownds of Tob. Wittnes my hand &
                 Seale, & ye hands & Seales of all the rest, who are Appraysers
                 thereof. the 7th of May 1659.
