Thursday September 27:th 1770

The House met according to Adjournment.

The Members were called and all appeared as on Yesterday —
The Proceedings of Yesterday were read.
M.r Smallwood and M.r Key appeared in the House.
The Petition of Abraham Barnes was read a second Time
Ordered, That M.r Eden M.r W. Thomas and M.r Bordley be a
Committee to examine into the Truth of the ffacts alledged in the
Petition, and report the same to the House.
M.r Johnson from the Committee brings in and delivers to M.r
Speaker an Address to his Excy which was read, approved, and
ordered to be ingrossed.
M.r Johnson brings in and delivers to M.r Speaker the following
ingrossed Address
To his Excellency Robert Eden, Esquire, Governor and Commander
in Chief in and over the Province of Maryland.
The humble Address of the House of Delegates
May it please your Excellency,
We his Majesty's most dutiful and loyal Subjects the Delegates
of the Freemen of Maryland in General Assembly convened return
your Excellency our Thanks for your Speech at the Opening of this
Session, and the Assurance you have been pleased to give Us, that
the Sanction of your Authority shall be given with the utmost
Alacrity and Satisfaction to all Regulations most conducive to the
Prosperity of the Province. We have already appointed a Time for
taking into Consideration the several Matters recommended to Us
by your Excellency, and are not without Hopes that the Result of our
Deliberations on these and all other Matters which may come before
us, will merit your Approbation and evince our firm Attachment to
the Public Good.
Which was read and assented to and signed by Order of the
House by the Honourable Speaker
Ordered, That M.r Grahame and M.r Aquila Hall do acquaint his
Excellency that this House hath prepared an Address to be presented
to him and desires to know when and where he will be pleased to
receive it.
They return and acquaint M.r Speaker that his Excellency was
pleased to signify he would receive the Address at Eleven O'Clock
in the Conference Chamber
Ordered, That M.r Johnson, M.r Tilghman, M.r J. Hall, M.r Ring-
gold, M.r Chase and M.r W. Paca do present the Address to his
Excellency.
They return and acquaint M.r Speaker they delivered the Address
to his Excellency
