communicated by his Excellency were read a second Time and
referred for Consideration on Wednesday next

Ordered, That the Matter recommended in his Excellency's Speech
relative to the Criminal Law be taken into Consideration on Thurs-
day the fourth Day of October next

M.r Bordley, M.r Worthington, M.r Ward, M.r Ware, M.r Hollyday,
M.r Johnson, M.r Chase, M.r Luckett, M.r J. Paca, M.r Gantt, M.r W.
Thomas, M.r Tyler and M.T W. Paca be a Committee of Grievances &
Courts of Justice
M.r Ward, M.r Goldsborough, M.r Tilghman, M.r J. Hall, and
M.r Bordley, a Committee of Elections and Privileges.
M.r Goldsborough, M.r Wright, M.r Hooper, M.r Gilpin and M.r
Aq Hall a Committee of Accounts —

a Committee to inspect into the several publick Offices and report

Speaker the following Message

By the Upper House of Assembly September 26.th 1770
Gentlemen,

This House hath appointed Benedict Calvert and Walter Dulany
Esquires to join the Members of your House, named by you for the
Purposes in your Message of this Morning by Mess.rs Grahame and
Worthington.

William Fitzhugh Esq from the Upper House delivers to M.r
Speaker the Petition of Abraham Barnes of Saint Marys County,
praying an Act may. pass to cure the Defect in the Acknowledgment
of a Conveyance made by Josiah Conant to William Thornton, thus
indorsed "By the Upper House of Assembly September 26.th 1770
Read and referred to the Consideration of the Lower House of
Assembly —
Signed by Order U Scott Cl. Up. Ho."
