The Lower House. 349


Charles Hammond, treasurer of the western shore. By the first and
the indorsement thereon, you will see that so long ago as the year
1730, that gentleman remitted to the late M.r William Hunt, mer-
chant in London, bills of exchange for £381.18.10 sterling, the same
being a balance then due to this province, from the estate of Robert
Ungle esquire; and by the second to colonel Hammond; that there is
a further sum of £93.8. due to this province, from M.r William
Hunts estate, which it seems was remitted to him many years ago;
both which sums, captain Thomas Hunt, brother, and executor of
the late M.r William Hunt is ready and willing to pay to any person
that may be legally authorized to receive them

M.r N. Thomas has leave of absence 'til Monday next
Henry Wilkins is appointed clerk to the several committees of this
house.
Ordered that the clerk do inform M.r Ghiselin thereof, and desire
him to qualify said Wilkins.
M.r Ghiselin certifies to the house, that Henry Wilkins is qualified
in the usual manner
The house adjourns till 2. o'clock
Post meridiem. The house met &c.a The petition of Elizabeth
Walls read a second time and rejected

On reading the second time the petitions of Edward Bromwell,
and Spedding Bromwell of Talbot County: Ordered that M.r Golds-
borough, M.r M. Tilghman, M.r Dickinson, and M.r Hall be a com-
mittee to state the facts relating thereto, and make report thereof
to the house.

Benedict Calvert esquire from the upper house, delivers to M.r
speaker the petition of Henry Darnall jun.r Rachel Darnall, Wife to
the said Henry Darnall; Mary Darnall, Daughter to the said Henry
and Rachel; and of Robert Darnall, uncle to the aforesaid Mary
Darnall; indorsed "By the upper house of assembly June 2.d 1768:
Read and referred to the consideration of the lower house of assembly

Which petition was read here the first and second time by especial
order, and granted. Leave given to bring in a bill according to prayer.
The bill was accordingly brought in, and read the first time and
ordered to lie on the table.
M.r Ridgley brings in and delivers to M.r speaker, a bill entitled,
an act to prevent the exportation of flour, staves and shingles not
merchantable, from the town of Baltimore in Baltimore County,
and to regulate the weight of hay, and measure of grain, salt, flax-
seed, and fire-wood, within the said town. Which was read the first
time and ordered to lie on the table
