M.r speaker in pursuance of the order of the house at the last
session, laid before the house the proceedings of the committee of
correspondence during the recess of assembly; as also the several
letters that had passed between Charles Garth esquire and the said
committee: All which are ordered to lie on the table for the perusal
of the members.
John Ridout esquire from the upper house delivers to M.r speaker
the petition of the rector, vestrymen, and churchwardens of Stepney
parish in Somerset and Worcester Counties. Which is read the first
time and ordered to lie on the table.
On motion, leave given to bring in a bill to remedy the incon-
veniencies arising from the loss of some proceedings in saint Marys
County Court: Ordered that M.r Hall, M.r Eden, M.r Wolstenholme,
and M.r Key, do prepare and bring in the same.
The house adjourns 'til 2. o'clock
Post Meridiem. The house met according to adjournment. M.r
Gresham appeared in the house.
The petition of John Hammond Dorsey of Baltimore County,
one of the candidates at the late general election for that County
complaining of an undue election of M.r Ridgley, M.r Moale, and
M.r Adair, three of the sitting members; and also against the
sheriff of that County for mal-conduct in the election; read the first
Time and ordered to lie on the table.
On reading the second time, the report of the committee ap-
pointed to make an estimate of the salaries of the three judges of
the provincial court &c.a the house concurs with the first and second
articles of the ways and means. Upon reading the third article,
respecting the tax upon carriage wheels; the question was put,
whether the house concurs therewith? Resolved in the affirmative
