         Charles County Court Proceedings, 1671—1674.     559

     Ordred that Absolon Spicer doe remaine in the Service of Mr Liber E
   Zachary Wade untill he Shall arrive to the age of one & twenty [P. 176]
   yeares
     Francis Green on behalfe of his Brother Robert Green makes
   tender of a Servt named Edward Barnes unto Wm Chandler who
   consents to Serve the sd Chandler from the date hereof untill the
   February the fourteenth next com foure yeares:
     Mr Zacli Wade on the behalfe of Richd Fowkes prsents & Servt
   named Nich Crisp who is adjudged to Serve till:

     James Munkister confessed a judgtht to Benja Rozer for the Sume
   of five hundred twenty & seven pds of tob wth cost taxed at 120 lb
     Geo: Ostree confesst a judgmt to Benja Rozer for the Sume of
   nine hundred & thirty pounds of tob wth costs taxed at 120:
     Wm Rothwrell confest a judgmt to Mary Thomas for the Sume
   of twelve hundred & eighteen poundes of tob:
     Ralph Coates as Attorny to Capt Hugh Oneal confest a judgemt
   to Benja Rozer for the Sume of thirteen hundred & forty poundes
   of ton:
     Ralph Coates likewise confest a judgmt to Benja Rozer for the
   Sume of Seventeen hundred twenty and three poundes of ton:

     In a cause depending between William Roswell Plaintiff and Jno
   Warder Deft, it be referd from the last Court, The Plaintiff by his
   Attorny Sam: Cressy complaines agt the Deft for the Sume of Seven
   hundred and Seven poundes of tob due by an acct in Court produced,
   & the Deft Jno Warder by his Aft Henry Bonner appeares appeares to
   defend the Suit and pleades non assumsit to the acct, & of that he
   putts himself upon the Country, whereupon it was ordred that a
   Jury Should be impanetd whose names are hereunder written:
     Thomas Corker foreman Richd Beck George Godfrey Giles Cole
   Wm Boyden Francis Thorneton Edmond Lindsy Joseph Bulloit Jno
   Lambert Jobe Corner Jno Godshall Michell Minock
     wch Jury being all Sworne & heareing the Evidences examined
   brought in to the Court this ensueing virdict, That they found for
   the Deft wth cost & charges of Suite, as followes:
        To Att fees                     6o
        To 4 Evidences 2 dayes apeice  240
        To his owne attendance          6o
        To the Jury
                                       480
   wch was allowed in open Court to the Deft.

     Henry Barnes cofesseth judgemt to Charles Duell for the Sume of
   fowre hundred twenty & three poundes of tob: cost taxed at 90th
   ton:
     Stephen Sollois confesses a judgtht to Stephen Murty for the
   Sume of fourteen hundred and twenty poundes of tob:
