or kept by single Persons not having or keeping a Family such
Master, Mistress or other Head of a Family shall forfeit and pay
the sum of Twenty Shillings for every such Offence, the said Sum
to be recovered before any single Justice of the Peace as aforesaid
one Half whereof to the Informer & the other Half to the Sheriff
of the County for the same uses as the Tax raised by Virtue of
this Act. so endorsed.
Read the second Time, a Bill entitled an Act to prevent the Navi-
gation of Potowmk River Monocasey & great Conicocheague Creeks,
from being obstructed, & will pass with the following Amendments
Viz.t leave out the Word "Act" in the 21st Line of the first page
the following Words Viz.t "and may from & after the first Day of
October next so pull down prostrate and destroy any Dam already in
Being in either of the said Creeks to which a sufficient Lock as
aforesaid shall not then be affixed & built" & insert in the Place

thereof, the following Words Viz.t "and also may after the End of
this present Session of Assembly pull down, abate, prostrate &
destroy any Fish Dam already in Being in the River aforesaid or
in either of the said Creeks," so endorsed These 3 Bills sent by
