best piece of the length and breadth aforesaid nine hundred pounds
of Tobacco, to the person who shall bring the third best piece of
Linnen of the length and breadth aforesaid the sum of Eight hundred
pounds of Tobacco to the person who shall bring the fourth best
piece of Linnen of the length and breadth aforesaid the sum of
Seven hundred pounds of Tobacco to the person who shall bring the
fifth best piece of Linnen of the Length and breadth aforesaid, In
which said pieces of Linen regard shall be had by the Justices of the
respective Courts who are hereby impowered to View, examine, and
determine on all Linnen to be produced in consequence of this Act,
to the quality and whiteness thereof.

And be it further Enacted by the Authority advice and Consent
aforesaid that the residue of the said eight thousand Pounds of
Tobacco so to be Levied as aforesaid by Virtue of this Act, shall be
paid and applied to the Several Persons and uses following (that is
say) to the person who shall bring into the August Court afore-
mentioned on the respective days thereof aforementioned, The first
best piece of Linnen of twenty five yards at least in length and not
under one yard wide the sum of Nine hundred Pounds of Tobacco,
to the Person who shall bring in the Second best piece of Linnen of
the length and breadth last described, the sum of eight hundred
Pounds of Tobacco, to the Person who shall bring in the third best
piece of Linnen of the length and breadth aforesaid the sum of seven
hundred Pounds of Tobacco, to the person who shall bring in the
fourth best piece of Linnen of the length and breadth aforesaid the
sum of six hundred Pounds of Tobacco, to the person who shall
bring in the fifth best piece of Linnen of the length and breadth
aforesaid the sum of five hundred Pounds of Tobacco in which said
Pieces of Linnen no regard shall be paid to the whiteness

be made &c
in the
County]

Provided always that the Linnen for which the County by this
Act is to be given and allowed, shall be made of Flax or Hemp of
the growth of this Province, And that such flax and Hemp shall be
actually Manufactured after the swingling thereof by white persons
only, and that no person shall be allowed any bounty for Linnen
but in the County where the flax or Hemp is spun and the Linnen
wove and whitened, and the Linnen aforesaid shall be wove by white
persons after the end of this Session of Assembly. To all which,
such proof shall be made as shall be satisfactory to the Justices of
the respective County Courts before whom the same shall be brought

Linen in two
equal Parts]

And Provided likewise that it shall and may be Lawfull for the
said respective Justices and they are hereby required to Cut each
piece of Linnen for which the Bounty is allowed, into two equal
parts or to use such methods as they shall think fit without much
damage to Such Linnen, to prevent two Rewards being given for one
and the Same piece of Linnen, and then to Return it to the bringer
