J. Ridout Esq.r from the Upper House delivers to Mr Speaker
the Bill Entitled an Act for raising a Duty of 4.d Str for every Hdd
of Tobo exported &c for the Support of an Agent &c Indorsed
"By the Upper House of Assembly 16.th Dec.r 1765 Read the first
and second Time by especial Order and will not pass

And the foll.g Message Viz

Gentlemen
We should very willingly concur with you in the Enaction of a
Law for the Appointm.t of an Agent [This message beginning thus is
printed in full in the Upper House journal, pp. p 1-95]

Publication of the Laws of this pvince and for the Encouragement
of Jonas Green of the City of Annapolis Printer
And an Ingrossed Bill Ent.d an Act for laying out Anew and
Seiling and ascertaining the future Bounds and Limits of St Lukes
Christ Church and St Johns Parishes in Queen Anns County and of
S.t Pauls Parish lying partly in Queen Anns and partly in Talbot
County
were severally read and assented to and sent to the Upper House
with the Paper Bills thereof by J. Hollyday Esq..r and Capt.n Ware
T. Johnson Esq.r brings in the follg Message viz

May it please your Honours
In Answer to your Message of the 13th Instant we are truly sorry
that the People have "been imposed upon by the malignt Misrepre-
sentations of factious Men in whose Candour and Veracity they
have too much confided" and we most sincerely wish "that all men
may be fully informed upon a Subject which hath become the more
important from the gross Deceptions which have been practised and
the Discontents they have excited that they who have been injured by
Aspersion may have their Characters vindicated by a full Detection
