[THIS LETTER, DATED FROM LONDON, APRIL 22, 1762,
INFORMED SHARPE THAT THE PROPRIETARY HAD PRE-
SENTED TO THE KING AND QUEEN THE ADDRESS OF CON-
DOLENCE AND CONGRATULATION OF THE GOVERNOR AND
THE UPPER HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY UPON THE DEATH OF
GEORGE II AND THE ACCESSION OF GEORGE III TO THE
THRONE. SEE PAGES xlviii-xlix FOR A DISCUSSION OF THIS
ADDRESS WHICH HAD GIVEN RISE TO A BITTER CONTRO-
VERSY BETWEEN THE TWO HOUSES AND THE ADOPTION
BY EACH HOUSE OF SEPARATE AND DIFFERENT ADDRESSES
