Tobacco so by the Sheriff Collected and Payd the said Vestry shall
and they are hereby required to apply towards the Support of an
Organist in the Parish aforesaid

Provided always and be it enacted That nothing in this or the
aforesaid recited Act Contained shall be Construed to take away
from the Inhabitants of the said Parish the Liberty of Paying the
said Assessment in Money during the Continuance of this Act in the
same Manner as Publick and County Levies may be Paid and dis-
charged

shall at any time be without an Organist all such sum or Sums of

Applied laid out and expended for the use of the said Parish to such
Purposes and in such Manner as the Majority of the Vestry and

An Act for erecting a Publick School in Frederick County

Whereas it is reasonable that Education should be extended equally
to the several Parts of the Province and that there should be a Publick
School erected in ffrederick County as Well as the other Counties

[Preamble]


Be it therefore enacted by the Right Honourable the Lord Pro-
prietary By and with Advice and Consent of his Lordships Governor
and the Upper and Lower Houses of Assembly and the Authority
of the same that in Order to the erecting and Building a House
and other Conveniencies for a County School there shall be one Acre
of Land Purchased in Frederick Town in ffrederick County by the

Persons hereafter named who shall be Visitors of the said School
Viz.t Coll Thomas Cresap M.r Thomas Beattys M.r Nathan Ma-
gruder Captain Joseph Chapline M.r John Darnall Colonel Samuel
Beall and the Reverend M.r Thomas Bacon which said Persons so
nominated Visitors for ffrederick County School shall Qualify in the
same Manner and be Subject to the same Penalties and be invested
with the same Right Privileges Powers and Authorities as the

Visitors of the other County Schools within this Province and shall
have Succession in like Manner
